Nigeria Army on Monday said that it will resort to full military action against militant group, Niger-Delta Avengers if the proposed dialogue
fails. Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant- General Tukur Buratai made this known in Port Harcourt while commissioning a newly built administrative complex of the Two Brigade Bori camp. Buratai was represented by the General Officer Commanding 82 division Nigerian Army, Ibrahim Attahiru. He told newsmen that the military welcome the option of dialogue but is ready to protect lives and property in the Niger-Delta region. He also commented on the possible involvement of the military in the July 30 legislative re-run elections in Rivers State.
This is coming as the Niger Delta Avengers claimed responsibility for yet another attack on a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation gas pipeline at Nsit-Ibom council area of Akwa Ibom State on Sunday Night. The Militants have said they are behind similar attacks on oil and gas facilities since renewed militancy in the region started.
